YASEMIN KIRAÇ

During the shutdown and quarantine, back home in Turkey, I spend most of my time in my garden walking around, reading, eating the fresh fruits from the trees, or smelling flowers. I have never been this intertwined or depend on nature. It became an escape. It was a way for me to fill the need to be outside, away from the four walls that surround me. Even though we try to bring nature to interiors by having flowers inside the vases or traditional tiles with flower figures decorating our houses, the nature of outside is very different. Therefore, I wanted to create a small world, a piece from this feast of green. I made this hat only by using pruned or fallen leaves/flowers. The experience of wearing such a green and natural piece is affecting my senses from sight to smell. The hat becomes a fashionable and memorable way to bring this ‘green’ with me wherever I go.
